Chinese & Japanese Works of Art

Olympia Auctions - Chinese & Japanese Works of Art department image

The Chinese and Japanese sales offer a wide range of fine works representing the richness and breadth of East Asian ceramics, sculptures, bronze and works of art. As well as netsuke from famous collections such as Edmund de Waal (The Hare with Amber Eyes) and Julius and Arlette Katchen, sales have featured items of distinguished provenance, such as the Chinese Works of Art of Admiral Lord Hood and ivory from the Marquesses of Dalhousie.

Among highlights are: a Japanese inlaid ivory and lacquer table screen, Meiji period (1868-1912), which sold for £19,000; a Chinese cloisonné enamel bottle vase, Qianlong Period (1711-1799), sold for £15,000; and a pair of Chinese porcelain blue and white 'G' mark bottle vases, Kangxi (1662-1722), sold for £15,000.
