hexagonal, plain excepting engraved scrolled initials GL above the date 1900 and raised border with beaded rim, stamped '6990', 'STERLING', retailer's name and maker's trademarks, 35.5cm widest, 702g
Provenance: Gift to Grace Learoyd (1874-1972) of Taunton, Mass, on her marriage to Samuel Hammond V (1859-1934) of Boston in 1900; thence by family descent to the vendor. The newly-married couple moved into a house at 194 Beacon Street, Boston, moving by 1921 to 193 Beacon Street, whilst also maintaining a property at Nahant, 'Castle Rock' 405 Nahant Road.
