Painted circa 1980; the flat tops of the limestone (called causses) of Quercy are much wilder and open than the green valleys. But they are less daunting than those of other parts of France, and crops can sometimes be grown on them.


the causses, typical of south-west France, are limestone plateaus which can often be cultivated.
