A FINE RONDEL DAGGER, LATE 15TH CENTURY

with tapering double-edged blade of slightly hollow-diamond section and flattened on each face at the forte, iron hilt comprising chiselled outer ring-guard formed as a pair of scaley serpents, down-curved scalloped inner-guard, spirally moulded ferrule, and large mushroom-shaped cap pommel, and later wooden grip (the iron parts pitted), 34.8 cm overall
