A 22 BORE BALKAN PERCUSSION KUBUR PISTOL, ALBANIA, SECOND QUARTER OF THE 19TH CENTURY

converted from flintlock, with tapering barrel with traces of an inscription on the flat and retained by a broad silver muzzle band chiselled with flowers and foliage against a punched ground and enriched with niello (rubbed), the tang overlaid with a nielloed silver plaque, stepped lock (iron parts pitted), full stock encased with nielloed silver against a punched ground decorated with a running pattern of flowers and foliage over the fore-end and the butt, the latter with integral pommel, matching trigger-guard, and simulated ramrod (probably shortened when converted to percussion), 21.0 cm barrel

This pistol is probably Central Albanian and derived from those made in Boka Kotorska in the Greek Romantic Revival style. See Elgood 1995, pp. 97.
