A SOUTH INDIAN SPEAR (VEL), 17TH/18TH CENTURY, POSSIBLY MYSORE, KARNATAKA

with broad straight tapering head of hollow-diamond section terminating in a reinforced sharp point, flaring at the base to a pair of sharp lugs (small repairs), tubular brass socket with three raised writhen collars and a further larger collar at the top with pierced and engraved down-turned brim, on a later haft with iron shoe, 261.4 cm overall
